Redundancy what next?

Do you want to know all about business and second income opportunities?

There is a wealth of information about second business opportunities but much of it is barely practical. Our aim is to provide as much practical information about the choices open to the sole trader or person looking for a second business opportunity.

We have examined various business opportunities in an attempt to list the most successful and practical. We have also listened to advice from people involved in the various second income opportunities as often reviews are the best source of information about opportunities that may involve profit to the companies promoting them as fantastic money making opportunities.

Whether you are looking for a full time income to replace a job that you have been made redundant from or merely a second income or third income to pay for next years holiday we hope we can offer you some sensible advice and possibly save you some time and effort in a new venture.

Do you need that extra income to pay for your dream holiday next year? Or have you been made redundant and prefer the self
employment route to that of getting another job and the constant threat of another redundancy?

Franchise opportunities are thick on the ground and they are all keen to take your money. But how many of them offer the real value that you would expect for the sums being asked for them? There are many and varied franchises out there and the most valuable advice would be to move into an area that you are familiar with and to ignore areas that you have no experience of.

There are many tempting franchise offers out there but remember that the marketing sizzle that makes the offers just so tempting is usually paid for out of your franchise fees. Try to guage carefully exactly what you are getting for your money. Make sure you are clear about what is included with the upfront fee and what you have to pay for each month as you go along.

Many franchises will charge £50 for a lead that comes in from your area and large additional fees for websites and search engine optimisation. Much of business marketing is now being done on the web and you may find in your sector that it is essential to have an impressive web presence in order to get the leads you need to run your business. If your franchise  charges you for the website, for search engine optimisation (SEO) and for leads then it can be expensive. So remember to check on your agreement what is charged for on a monthly basis and talk to as many existing franchisees as you can they will soon tell you what they consider to be expensive additional charges.

On the plus side many franchises can take away much of the administration and marketing that every business entails. This can allow you to actively engage in sales and marketing and to grow the business at your own pace.

You will be given invaluable tried and tested marketing material and a price list which will enable you to start working as soon as the ink has dried on your contract. This saves you a lot of time and money researching yur market and testing your marketing
materials. To be successful your product must satisfy a market niche that is not already taken by competitors. The franchise operators want you to succeed at your business so they will have done the market research to make sure that you are selling your products into a  growing and developing market.

Most small businesses or sole traders are unaware that they need to specialise as much as possible in order to charge the maximum amount for their time.
